Adjust your veil and prepare to gawk & grovel & stare at Prince Ali!

Hello for the first time from me in the New Year! I know it's been a while since my last blog post, but I do like to take a break during the holidays, and then life happens. What can I say? My husband thinks that I was cursed by a witch, I have such 'bad luck', and then I have to rest and take care of the things that happen due to that 'bad luck'.

I'm still taking care of myself from the pulmonary embolism I had, and recently, I had a terrible fall that injured my foot/knee/leg, but after having gone to the doctors, it turns out that the injury might be stemming from my back. I am doing so much when it comes to my health. It truly is the most important thing in life. I wish there wasn't SO much going on, but it does come first. Then comes everything else. Then comes me blogging about it.

So here I am.

My husband and I went to go see Aladdin, the musical, on Broadway. I had always wanted to see James Monroe Iglehart as Genie (he's just so fabulous!) & I knew his run was ending in the middle of February & my husband's favorite Disney movie is Aladdin so he bought us tickets for the weekend before Valentine's. But the fall happened a week before our date and I couldn't walk AT ALL in the beginning. There was no way I was going to make it. My husband sold our tickets back to Ticket Master and we got our money back (I'm still incredibly bitter about it, though, because all I could do was picture other people sitting in MY seats watching MY Genie. Even though the only way for us to actually get our money back was if someone bought our tickets, I don't care, hmph!) but during the next week, I started managing to be able to walk with crutches. My husband saw how much better I was feeling so he bought a new pair of tickets which fell in Iglehart's last week, and I was still able to see my Genie :)
It was spectacular! Mr. Iglehart was brilliant as Genie, the show was fantastic, and the costumes! OMG there was so much glitz, glamour, and sparkle that I ALMOST couldn't handle it... every time a new character came out in their costume, I just kept wondering if there was anywhere I could buy what they were wearing? I was constantly turning to my husband, whispering "gorgeous!, omg look at that hat!, that dress!, gorgeous!, you think they sell tops like that?!, gorgeous!"

And one of my favorite things about going to Broadway, in general, is going to the different theaters. The theaters themselves are absolutely gorgeous! Aladdin is in the Amsterdam Theater...

I can see why the Amsterdam Theater was chosen for the Aladdin musical... it's very middle eastern in it's architecture. It reminded me very much of The Blue Mosque, with it's balconied minarets, which was also the inspiration for Cinderella's Castle in Disney World so I guess the theater is doubly suiting.

And the blazer I wore from CLE threads - HERE & you can check out their IG Page HERE - made for the perfect attire for the occasion. I wanted to be comfortable, while still being appropriately dressed for the theater so I wore plain black leggings, an easy long black camisole, and this magnificent blazer in all its rainbow sequin gloriousness!

I really had an absolutely fabulous time. The show was great, getting there wasn't an issue at all because, as I've recently so pleasantly found out, people (at least most people) are very kind to you when you're handicapped -I had absolutely no issue getting cabs, the drivers dropped me off right in front of my exact destination locations, and then I even had my own accessible bathroom at the theater (it really wasn't JUST mine obviously, but I didn't see any other handicapped people at the theater)- and it was great having a night out with my husband away from reality in a show as magically as Aladdin... and I, of course, got my show t-shirt! Just like with concerts, every time I go to a Broadway show, I purchase a show t-shirt as a souvenir. You can see my Aladdin shirt on my Instagram page @mostly_maple and while you're there, give me a follow :)

I'll keep you all posted on my leg, and my health as it concerns my pulmonary embolism... I'm going to be able to stop taking the blood thinners after my doctors clear me which should be very soon! I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful rest of the week & have magical nights planned in your lives!
