Disco's Not Dead...

It's ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' aliveeee liveeee liveeee... It's Stayin' Alive!

I spoke before on my blog about how fashions always come back into style, but it was Miss Coco Chanel herself that said it best "Anyone who thinks they're original has no sense of history."

And if you open up your history books, you'll see that a lot of the fashions that are "on trend" right now have a very '70s vibe to them. From the fringe to the big floppy hats, the platforms and the dresses... Disco is back baby! And as a self-proclaimed rocker, its a little hard to say this, but I'm Loving it! At least when it comes to fashion :)

The Girl with the Double Pearl Earring

I love the Classics and keeping up with Traditions, but one of my favorite things I love about them, is that you can put your own Modern Twist on them.

Little Black Tunic

Every woman has her favorite Little Black Dress, but why stop there? Every woman should have her favorite Little (insert color here) Anything. And one of my favorites is my Little Black Tunic. I LOVE tunics. You see, I'm short. So yea, there are a lot of things that are hard for me to wear.... I can't buy a pair of jeans without hemming them. I have to alter every formal dress I've ever owned. And Maxis, well, I just let them drag :) But tunics, tunics I can wear no problem, and in more ways than one. I don't always have to break out the leggings to wear one... I can turn it into a dress.

And that's exactly what I did Friday night for a birthday dinner I went out to.

Locks of Love

I've been blessed with the ability to grow my hair very long very quickly. I only cut my hair once a year, and that's only out of necessity. But from that necessity, comes a very good deed. Within a year, my hair grows down passed my derriere. I then chop it all off and donate my hair to Locks of Love. This has become a yearly ritual for me and it makes me feel great. Not just because I'm doing something good, and getting a great haircut out of it, but because I know I'm making someone else's life better.

And last week is when I had my Annual Haircut

Oh Those Summer Nights!

Last Friday night, my husband and I and a couple of our friends headed over, again, to the Plattduetsche Park Biergarten. Most Friday night's, The Plattduetsche features a band and there's no cover-charge and, well, it's a Beer Garden so really you can't go wrong. It really is just a great place to kick off your weekend with great live music, great food and drinks, for a great summer night!

And Great Summer Nights call for Great Summer Dresses... Here's the dress I wore

A simple White Cami Dress with an Extreme-Deep V-neck Grey Tunic. Paired with these cute Silver Metallic Low Wedge Sandals, it made for the perfect
summer night outfit.

Color Cheer and Giveaway Grievance

Yesterday I had my monthly check-up; an event that certainly isn't a outright dread, but definitely not something I look forward to every month either. In general, whenever I'm not in a good mood, I wear a bright colorful outfit to cheer myself up. Looking bright and cheery helps to make me feel more bright and cheery, and I specifically figured that this kind of an outfit would come in handy yesterday.

So here's what I wore.

Pow Wow with a Pop of Color!

When it comes to style, there's almost nothing I love better than a black and white outfit with a Pop of Color. Any neutral palette with a gorgeous pop is one of the simplest and stylish ways to put a outfit together. Just one piece of jewelry or a bright shoe can instantly turn your outfit from a flop to a pop!

Like this outfit I wore to the Pow Wow last Friday.

Leopard Bacon and Beer

Last Friday night (well actually two Fridays ago) my husband and I and a group of friends headed out to the Plattduetsche Park Biergarten for their Bacon Fest. It was one of the greatest festivals ever! Bacon Beer, Bacon Desserts, Bacon Bacon Bacon EVERYTHING! So good. And it was the perfect night, not just with good friends, family, food and beer, but the weather was perfect. I do not do well with heat, I'm talking really bad to where I get very sick, so in the summer, I worry about outdoor events, but like I said, the weather turned out to be just the right temperature so that was a huge plus. There was also great music, and really, you can never go wrong with bacon... and a leopard outfit.

So last night, with it being the end of Shark Week, I decided to go out on the Island to one of my favorite Seafood Restaurants, Peter's Clam Bar, with some friends. Sitting outside as the sun was setting with a good drink and excellent food made for the perfect night and a great way to end truly the most wonderful week of the year. Here's what I wore...

Anti-Drip Summer Style Tips

So summer is finally here. We've been waiting for it all winter long, cursing the snow, praying for the day that the sun will come out and the temperature would just warm up already! But now that it's here, all we want to do is cool off. The dread of having to put on actual clothes and heading off to work or to run errands, instead of putting on a bikini and heading to the beach, is just too much to bare. And it's very easy to get lazy with your style... just putting on the T-Shirt, Shorts, and Flip Flops and heading out.. not caring what we look like because it's just too damn hot to care about anything! But we need to care. You should always take care of yourself. When you look good, you feel good. And every woman over the age of, at the maximum, 25 should never leave the house without at least some makeup on.

So here's some tips. You don't have to leave the house with your face fully beat, but like I said, you have to put something on. Personally, I never leave the house without my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara regardless of the situation. But I don't always feel like putting in the extra effort and putting on eye shadow; however to add a little depth, I line my eyes with eyeliner a little thicker than one usually would. I usually use black eyeliner, but to change up your look and to add a nice pop, try a colored eyeliner... I especially like metallics.

And yes, these are my real lashes. No Falshies.

Florals, Fringe, and Rock & Roll

With H&M

With the flowers sprung and the trees in full bloom and the sun shinning, you can't but want to dress the way the weather feels. But that doesn't mean you want to look like an extra from the Sound of Music and go prancing around fields singing in a dress made out of a curtain. So put away the bows and the ruffles...ok a little bit of a ruffle is alright...and bring on the leather and metal to "rock" an awesome spring outfit.

Leather in Spring? Yes. There are many was to incorporate leather into a spring outfit. Like this awesome Black Leather Fringe bag I added to this adorable Floral Baby Doll Type Tunic, and these super comfortable Orange Suede Flats. To Top the outfit off, I added this Blower Hat... who said blower hats went down with the Titanic? Blowers are back! And not just for men.

SAG Award Red Carpet Snoozefest!

I love award shows and of course one of my favorite parts is the red carpet to see what everyone is wearing. Last night was the 2015 SAG Awards and I have never found a red carpet so boring in my life. Not one, not a single dress wowed me. In general everyone looked nice, but it was all just too safe and boring to me. There was a lot of dark blues and blacks and just blah. There were a couple of dresses that stood out to me, but that really isn't saying much.

I actually really loved Julianne Moore's dress, but I didn't like it on her. And can someone please tell Ms. Moore to do something with her hair other than just run a brush through it. It's an award show for goodness sake!

2015 Gloden Globes Red Carpet Review

I can not say enough about how much I absolutely LOVED Emma Stone's looked at the 2015 Golden Globes! I usually hate when women wear pants or short dresses at black tie events, especially Hollywood Stars at Award Shows... and when I first saw Emma Stone's jumpsuit I was very confused and hesitant to react, but when she turned around and I saw that bow BAM! Instantly I knew it was my favorite look of the night. I noticed that it was a trend on the red carpet for the women to wear their hair very, um, how do I put this nicely... casually? Undone is actually more of the word I'm looking for. Most of the women, I guess, were going for a casual look, but it just looked messy and undone to me. But Emma Stone managed to pull the look off flawlessly. Her hair was casual, but still nicely put together and I loved her simple hair accessory. I loved her casual, but still black tie appropriate, jumpsuit with that gorgeous bow at the back. It was jumpsuit couture. Perfect, just perfect.
